A luxury member’s experience meets classic Soho club scene.
We designed the strategy, identity and interiors for The Court. A reimagining of the classic private members’ club, the venue combines the heritage of its Soho site - a venue previously known as the Bag-O-Nails whose regulars included Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles – with a modern-day membership experience.
The visual identity drew inspiration from animals as symbols of royal heraldry. A colour palette of navy blue with accents of copper and orange added a contemporary vibrancy to the design.
"I wanted The Court to feel like something out of a novel"
Harry Mead Founder, The Court
The destination bar is clad in blue leather upholstery with a polished brass bar top and fractured antique mirrored finish to the bulkhead above. A black marble floor with in-laid brass radiates out into the main club connecting the bar and stage areas, drawing the eye down and through the space.
The intimacy of the venue is enhanced by the original vaulted ceilings which have been retained and accentuated with decorative walnut mouldings.
The space itself is split over two floors: a ground and basement level. Guests enter the club through an understated shopfront and are greeted by the host before descending into the main bar area in the basement.
Applied across bespoke collateral, from the laser engraved copper membership cards to the debossed leather menus, the identity weaves seamlessly with the customer experience to enhance each step of their journey.
The perimeter of the club is lined with blue velvet banquette seating on one side and intimate private booths on the other, positioned for perfect views of the stage. The centre of the room is filled with lounge height marble tables and custom-made orange velvet stools.
Renowned artist Bradley Theodore was commissioned to paint the artwork located within the entrance lobby representing a traditional court scene and forming the highlight as guests arrive.
As well as live music, the club also offers creative food and drink menus developed in partnership with Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers and award-winning mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana and his team at Mr Lyan Studio.
