A destination for the neighbourhood that happens to be a hotel.
A hotel truly inspired by the surrounding area taking reference from the creative industries, diverse culture and sordid past.
Three concepts were developed for the bedrooms, playfully referencing the history of Clerkenwell and the people who live and work there: the Architects, the Silversmiths and the Showroom.
The Architects’ scheme is a subtle nod to the architectural profession, with geometric pattern, lines and hatching in the detailing.
The Silversmiths is a more refined scheme, with metal detailing contrasting with the plush velvet headboards designed to resemble the inside of a jewellery box.
The Showroom scheme is designed for larger spaces, and brings together a curated collection of beautiful objects in a contemporary and asymmetrical fashion.
The design of the reception area is influenced by the language of the creative studio, with drawing chests and a display cabinet forming the ‘front desk’.
Other details include a large-scale model of Clerkenwell, metal detailing inspired by architectural drawings, geometric patterns and bespoke rugs and furniture designed in-house for the hotel.
